What are the different types of scalp wounds?
do not correlate with intracranial injuries

contusion-hemorrhage into tissue

abrasion- scraping injury of the surface

laceration- tearing/ crush injury with tissue bridges, irregularities

incision- cutting injury, no bridges, sharp

linear: closed/ compound- normally at site of injury but may cross structure or create communication = infection

comminuted-multiple fragments

stellate- multiple fractures radiate from single focus

diastatic- fracture along suture- children

depressed- one edge lower than original contour.
