LH

Damage to LH caused aphagia (stop eating)

Stimulated LH elicited eating

VMH

Damage to VMH caused hyperphagia (non-stop eating)

stimulated LH caused rats to stop eating

Keesey & Corbelt

Injected rats with neuropeptide Y. RAts immediately began to eat.

Stanley & Wilkus

repeated injections of neuropeptide Y caused obesity in rats.

Zhang

Looked at the role of hormone, Leptin, in mcie. Found that obese mice had a lack of leptin and when injected caused weight loss.

Lutter et al

Found that Ghrelin is a hormone produced in response to stress which causes anxiety and increases appetite.

Gold

Criticised this model saying that VMH isn't soely responsible for satiety and that PVC also responsible. Found that damage to VMH didn't cause hyperpahgia however has not been replicated.

Sakurai et al

Criticised the model saying that LH isn't soely responsible for triggering hunger. Model is too simple/

Evolutionary theory

According to the evolutionary theory it would have been maladaptive for our ancestors to stop eating once they reached satiety as food supply was so unpredictable and they never knew when their next meal would be.
