Actions in Resus
Stimulate
warm
evaluate heart rate and respirations, and color
Clear airway
blow by or begin PPV
NRP
1st 30 seconds, or after
HR <100
apnea
Position baby on warm flat firm surface, and
SNiff postion
Clear airway
Begin PPV
observe for chest rise, pinking, and gasping or crying

Reevaluate heart rate if <100 continue
Consider 911 and transport
NRP
1st 30 seconds, or after
HR<60
apnea
position baby on warm flat hard surface
Sniff
begin PPV
begin chest compression
reevaluate heart rate,
call 911 and prepare for transport.
primary apnea
Baby will be able to respond to stimulus, and quickly begin to breath.
Gasping is a sign of apnea and may be a sign that the baby is moving into secondary apnea, if stimulation or PPV are not given.
Secondary apnea
n secondary apnea baby will not respond to stimulation. Immediately move to PPVs. Baby will die if resuscitation is not sucessful. Secondary apnea cannot be diagnosed at birth and should be considered with all babies experiencing apnea
PPV rate
During Apnea
5 to 10 L/min of O2
pressure of first breaths should be 40 to 50 cm of h2o and then the lowest amount of pressure for chest rise
40 to 60 breaths per minute at a rate of breath two three, breath two three
observe for chest rise
Cardiac compression rate
heart rate < 60 BPm
90 Compressions per minute
with breath every 3 compressions
compress, compress, compress breath
NRP
Meconium present
baby vigorous
clear mouth and nose as necessary, dry, stim, and position on mother
NRP
Meconium
Non Vigorous
Apnea HR>100
warm, dry
Delee throat,
assess HR and repirations
position
begin PPV
Deep Suctioning
Side effects
warning
vasovagel response
causing bradycardia
apnea
indications of successful seal of mask
increase in HR, improvement of color and tone, spontaneous respirations
NRP

Breathing
Cardiac
NRP
Stimulation
flick soles of feet
dry vigorously
rub up the back of the baby
NRP
Chest Compressions
Two finger ot thumb postition for chest compression

Chest compression 1/3 the depth of the diameter of the chest.
30 breaths with 90 compressions per minute or the rate of one(compression) two (compression) and three (compression), and Breath
NRP
Cardiac resuscitation
Apnea
HR<60 BPM
Keep warm and dry,
position in sniff
provide inhalation breaths
begin cpr at a rate of three compressions and one breath in two seconds, D/C when HR>100 but continue to provide PPV until spontaneous respirations with central pinking of the body, wean off O2 support
