CAT I Route
Any route that does not meet the requirements of a CAT II route, including tac nav and overwater routes. (V3 Ch11)
CAT II Route
Any route where your position cant be accurately determined by one of three options. Overhead NAVAID, intersection of 2 radials or a radial and dme (V3 Ch11)
FSAF/LSAF
Used for ETP calculation. Airport closet to the coast out and coast in waypoint that meet C130J criteria. Forecast weather must be good. (V3 Ch11)
ETP
Equal time point is the geographic location along your route from which the flight time to the LSAF and FSAF is equal. Always upwind of the approximate midpoint. (V3 Ch11)
NAT Tracks
Contained within the North Atlantic MNPS airspace, a track system between FL 285 and FL 420. Updated 2x daily based off of weather data. (V3 Ch11)
RVSM
Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum Airspace. Special certification required, 1000' of separation between FL 290-410. (V3 Ch11)
ETP
Equal time point. Time is equal between your LSAF and FSAF. Required on CAT I routes where time between L and FSAF is >5 hours. (V3 Ch11)
Who maintains the MFP?
The PM normally maintains the Master Flight Plan but it will be easily accessible along with the MPC. (V3 Ch11)
When is a MPC needed?
A Master Plotting Chart is required on every route requiring CAT I navigation. (V3 Ch11)
Why do you change the pos alerts to 4/8 on CAT I sorties?
At 4 miles off of course you will receive the INAV POS DIFFERENCE Advisory and at 8 you will get INAV POS MISCOMPARE Caution. Allows for some drift on the route. (V3 Ch11)

What indicates a faulty INS during CAT I ground checks?
Ground speeds in excess of 1 Knot while the aircraft is stationary. (V3 Ch11)
When do you do a compass deviation check?
Prior to entering CAT I airspace.
Heading changes of 30 Deg. or more or every 3 hours. (V3 Ch11)
