Alexander kept retreating, delaying the battle. Alexande destroyed Moscow so Napoleon wouldn't benefit...causing Napoleon to have no supplies or shelter for his men and he had to leave men behind which meant he did not out number is enemy. Napoleon had to retreat, worst retreat in history!!
