TIME

Time is a form of motion. Time on Earth is based on the rotation of the Earth. Every time the Earth rotates once, it has been one day. Every time it rotates around the sun, it has been one year.

TIME p. 3

Days, Months and Years.

Days: The time between 2 nights.

Months: The time between new moons.

Years: The time it takes Earth to rotate around the sun one time.

TIME p. 4

Why is there an extra day every four years?

The Egyptian's noticed that a year wasn't exactly 365 days, but in fact there is 365 days and 6 hours. Leap Year collects all of the 6 hours over the 4 years, and they add up to 24 hours. A day is added to make up for the hours skipped each year.
