What is Mole?

The mole is the amount of substance in grams that has the same number of particles as there are atoms in 12 grams of Carbon-12.

What is R. A. M?

Relative Atomic Mass is the average mass of one atom compared to one twelfth of the mass of one atom of carbon-12.

What is the R. M. M?

Relative Molecular Mass is the average mass of a molecule compared to one twelfth of the mass of one atom of carbon-12.

One mole of any specified entity contains (Avogadro's number) of entity.

The Avogadro's number is 6.022 times 10^23.

Formula for moles

Moles= mass ÷ molar mass

Formula for molar concentration

Concentration= moles ÷ volume

State the Avogadro's law

This states that equal volumes of all gases at the same temperature and pressure have equal number of moles.

Formula for mass concentration

Mass concentration= (moles ÷ volume) times molar mass

Or

Mass concentration= molar concentration times molar mass

N2 + 3H2 → 2NH3

An example, as to explain the equation, is 1 mole of dinitrogen reacts with 3 moles of (di) Hydrogen to produce 2 moles of Ammonia. What are the numbers in the equation called?

The balancing/ stoichiometric numbers are 'mole ratios'.

What is an empirical formula?

An empirical formula is the simplest ratio of atoms of each element in the compound.

What is a molecular formula?

A molecular formula is the actual number of atoms of each element in the compound.
