Centre of Gravity:
- A point where the entire weight of the object can be considered to act as a single force. |
Finding the centre of gravity-Experiment:
- Support the piece freely on a wire passed through a small hole. - From the wire hang a plumb line to show the vertical. - Mark the line of the string as the centre of gravity- must lie along it. - Repeat- from a different hole. - Centre of gravity is where the two marked lines intersect. - Check by balancing the piece on the point of a pencil. |
