Cyprianic Model
There is one true church (the ark of salvation) and there is no salvation outside this church. Those outside are nothing (need to be re-baptized if enter).
Augustinian Model
The apostolic church (Augustine's) is the true church. Other baptisms are valid but not efficacious (converts who have been baptized in other churches do not to be re-baptized, but their baptism only "counts" once they convert to the true church: it is Christ who accomplished the original baptism.)
Double Model
Associated with Calvin(?) and the RCC today.

One true church exists, but those ecclesial communities outside of it have vestiges of the truth (i.e. their sacred rites can be vehicles for salvation).
Event Model
Church "occurs" where the gospel is truly preached and sacraments properly administered. (Lutheran)
Branch Theory Model
There are three branches of the church - Eastern (Greek), Western (Latin), and British (Anglican)
Invisibilist Model
Reformed: only God knows who is in the "true" church from among the visible church. Fits with a view of predestination.
Church as Mission Model
Church is defined by its engagement in mission.

Wainwright does not approve its tendency to integrate everyone, no questions asked (i.e. Methodist practice of open table to those who have not been baptized.)
Sum of Denominations Model / Pluralist Model
Any church that claims to be a church is a church. Semi-competitive, semi-cooperative model. Characteristic of American views of capitalism, toleration.
Rotary Club model
Like-minded people come together but do not push too hard with regard to where the real truth is.
Pragmatic Model
20th century model: "doctrine divides, service unites"

The church is where you find people working together in the name of Christian service.
Pentecostal Model
Church is identified by the presence of the Holy Spirit.
