S. aureus is catalase +

S. pyrogenes is catalase -
S. pyogenes is divided into 3 groups based on hemolytic ability.
B hemolytic: lyse RBC
alpha: partially lyse RBC, leaving green discoloration
gamma: non-hemolytic
Streptolysin O: O2 labile (only active in anaerobic environment, kills phagocytes)

Streptolysin S: O2 stable
