What induced you to be a master mason?

In order that i might travel foreign countries, work and receive master's wages, being better enabled to support myself and family, and contribute to the relief of worthy distressed master masons, their widows and orphans.

The Trowel is an instrument made use of by operative masons to spread cement, which unites a building into one commom mass; but we; as free and accepted masons are taught to make use of it for a more noble and glorious purpose of spreading the cement of brotherly love and affection.
