What element has the symbol C?
Carbon
What element has the symbol O?
Oxygen
What element has the symbol H?
Hydrogen
What is the chemical symbol for water?
H2O
What is the chemical symbol for carbon dioxide?
CO2
Name the phases of the cell division.
Interphase, (Mitotisis) prophase, metaphase, anaphase, Cytokinesis
Which is the longest phase in Mitois?
Prophase
What comes out of the centrioles?
spindle fibers
What do the spindle fibers do?
form a bridge between the ends of the cell and pull the chromotids apart.
What is a chromotid?
The chromosome consists of two rod like parts called chromotids?
What is a centromere?
The centromere holds the to daughter chromatids together?
What happens in the Interphase?
Cell grows to full size size. It replicates the DNA (duplicate chromosomes), produces centrioles needed for division.
What happens in Prophase?
Chomosomes condense and become visible (via a microscope), the pair of centrioles move to opposite sides of the nucleus, spindle fibers form a bridge and the nucleur envelope (membrane breaks down).
What happens in Metaphase?
Each chromosome attaches to a spindle, the sister chromodids line up (at the equator).
What happens in Anaphase?
The centromere splits pulling the chromotids apart into two chromosomes, these chromosomes are drawn by the spindles to the opposite ends of the cell. The cell stretches out.
What happens in Telophase?
Spindle fibers disapear, cell continues to split, nuclear membrane disappears ???
What happens in Cytokinesis?
The cell splits into two daughter cells each ending up with an identicall set of chromosomes and about half the organelles of the parent cell.
