1st stage

Interphase - nucleus intact, chromosomes invisible, DNA replicates

2nd stage

Prophase - Chromosomes become visible, nucleolus and nuclear membrane disappear, chromosomes appear as 2 chromatids joined by centromere


Centriole divides and moves to opposite end in ninals

3rd stage

Metaphase - Chromatids line up along equator as spindle forms. Each pair of chromatids are attached to spindle at the centromere

4th stage

Anaphase - chromosomes separate and move to opposite poles
