What does Bell's Palsey cause?
Unilateral facial paralysis of sudden onset. The paralysis involves both the upper and lower halves of the face - distorts smiling, eye closure, salivation and tear formation on the affected side.
What causes Bell's Palsey?
of herpes simplex virus although other infections are sometimes acknowledged
How is Bell's Palsey treated?
Physical therapy may do muscle re-education with electrical stimulation to help strengthen the muscles innervated by the facial nerve
What does suboccipital tightness cause?
patients may have a forward head posture and typically complain of suboccipital headaches that radiate up into the head and jaw
How is subocciptial tightness treated?
Performing traction on these muscles can be very effective. Postural re-education is indicated for these patients.
