Iran is a theocratic Republic witht he supreme leader being the ayatollahs Ali Khameini and a president Hassan Rouhani. This is a unitary system. Both men ans women can vote once they reach the age of 18. The supreme leader is chosen for their lifetime and the president every 4 year. They have a national assembly with 290 seats. There us a supreme court with a four member high court that creates laws and policies. Their constitution guarantees them certain freedoms that are similar to ours, the government has the right to choose not to follow them. (Especially if they are contrary to Islamic law) |
