"Medium aevum" means "middle age" and is the source of the English word, Medieval.

They went back to their originally cultural groups.
How is the Byzantine empire both an ally and an enemy to the western parts of the newly forming Europe.
The Byzantine empire considered itself the only true inheritor of the Roman Empire and of the Christian religion. This fact made the empire something somewhere between an ally and an enemy to the west.

Christianity was the major force, and wars were waege against Muslims who the church viewed as heretics

Rats started to bit people. Rats carried a flea that would then enter you blood stream and kill you.
People lived in densely populated area and the dead were you as weapons.
What were the social and economic effects of the plague?
Social- People turned on each other and killed each other.
Economic- Prices skyrocketed, people went out of business.
