Precautions (1-2)
1)Have intubation equip. and O2 ready before administration
2)Monitor 02 sats closely
USe with caution in Pts with known glaucoma and elderly pts with Hx of COPD
Precautions (3)
Consider reduction of dosage in the elderly and those with renal failure with base order
Drug Interactions
1)Potentiates the effects of alcohol, narcotics, tranquilizers, barbituates and antidepressants
2)Sedative effects may be antagonized by theophylline
Preparations
1mg/1ml, 2mg/2ml, 5mg/1ml vials
Adult dose
1 to 2.5 mg may rpt. in 1mg increments prn; total dose not to exceed 0.1 mg/kg (except with order of sedation assisted intubation
Pedi Dose
.05mg/kg IV
Route
IV or IM or intranasally for pediatrics (chemical restraint& pediatric seizure
