MRVP Broth
Methyl Red - add 3 drops. Immediate red appearance indicates strong acid production during fermentation. Yellow - lac of strong acid production.

VP - add 15 drops of Barritt's Reagent A (naphthol) and then 5 drops of Barrit's Reagent B (potassium hydroxide). Wait 60 min. Red - acetoin production. Yellow - no acetoin production.
