Eukaryote history/Endosymbiotic theory.

Started with large cell that ate a smaller cell that produced ATP. That small cell became mitochondria.

What is the basis for this theory?

THe basis for this theory is that mitochondria has completely different DNA than the larger cell has.

Mitochondria have different separate ribosomes.

Features of eukaryotic cells
Phospholipid bylayer, Nucleus, Mitochondria, ribosomes
Rough ER
Contains ribosomes that are exported

Cytoplasmic membrane

Where does transcription happen? Making an RNA out of DNA
Nucleus

Where does translation happen?

DNA Replication happens
S phase of interphase
Chromatin turns to chromosomes. Nuclear envelope degrades. Centrioles move to poles of cell.
Prophase
Chromosomes align
Metaphase
