-Enterotoxins cause diarrhea

Gas Gangrene

-Requires damaged or dead tissue and an anaerobic conditions.


-Fermentation of muscle carbohydrates result in the formation of gas and further tissue destruction.


-Common entry points "Civil war", surgical incisions, diabetic ulcers, open fractures, gunshot or puncture wounds.

Treatment of Gas Gangrene

This bacteria requires an anaerobic environment, so debridement and cleaning of wounds followed by Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy.
