Three (3) forms of power:

Legitimate power:

Causes of IPV (2):
1. Psychological - mental disorder / psychological disorder

Cultural considerations for IPV:
1. In some cultures, aggression is not a negative thing

Goals of supervision (3):
1. Enhance skills/knowledge of students

3. Serve as a "gatekeeper" for profession
State law regarding services for minors:
- 6 sessions or 30 days without guardian consent
- After that, guardian must consent for minor therapy
- Guardian(s) have access to client records
Four (4) elements to prove malpractice:
1. Professional relationship between therapist and client EXISTED
2. Therapist MUST have acted in a negligent or improper manner
3. Client MUST have suffered harm or injury (must be verified)
4. Must be a LEGALLY demonstrated causal relationship between negligence and client's harm/injury
