UCAPAWA affilated with CIO In 1938, the employers tried to lower wages further, 6-8000 workers went on strike. 10 k particpated. the elected tenayuca to lead. but she was soon jailed for incinting communist agitations. the sent louisa morena to help, she made tenayuca step down because of her communist connections the women faced a great deal of violence by the local police, beaten, tear gas after 5 weeks on the line, mgmt agreed to federal laws at 35 c/hr, but they would up mechanizing pecan shelling and many women lost jobs, |
