Gate Valve

Used for isolation or shut off purposes.

Butterfly Valve

A valve consisting of a disc rotating on an axis or across the diameter of a pipe to isolate or regulate the flow.

Primarily used as a control valve.

Globe Valve

Used for regulating flow in a pipeline. Consists of a moveable disc-type element or diaphragm and a stationary ring seat in a generally spherical body.

Plug Valve

Valve with cylindrical or conically tapered "plugs" which can be rotated inside the valve body to control flow through the valve.

Check Valve

A single action valve that closes to prevent backward flow of liquid.

Foot Valve

A self-acting valve that allows water to flow only in one direction on the low pressure suction side of a pump operating under suction lift.

Altitude Valve

Used to fill water in a tank.

Controls the high water level in reservoirs without the need for floats or other devices. It is a non-throttling valve that remains fully open until the shut off point is reached.

Air/Vacuum Release Valve

Located at high points or summit, installed above grade, and outlet screened.

Blow-Off Valve

Located at low points/invert and or dead ends. Moves stagnant water and improves water quality

Corporation Stop

Connected to the water main and the service line. It's the main shut off valve located under the street.

Angle Meter (Curb Stop)

Connected to the service line and meter. It's used to isolate a consumers service. Located in a meter box.

Nutating-Disc Meter

Water flows through and the tilted disc rotates. Typical for residential and small businesses. Very accurate in low flows up to 2"

Piston-Type (Oscillating)

Water flows into the chamber and displaces a piston and the oscillatory circulating motion is transmitted to a register. Slightly greater head loss than nutating-disc.

Compound Meter

Displacement and velocity type meter that measures low and high flows.

Displacement part measures low flows and when head loss increases, compounding be is actuated and water flows through velocity portion of the meter.

Head loss increases during high flows and is less accurate than low flows.

Turbo Meter

The Impeller is weightless in water.

Meters have an extended flow range with greater low-flow rates

Also have ability to capture extended high-flow rates

All with virtually no wear on the meter.

Magnetic "Mag" Meter

Water flows through a magnetic field and small electric current which is relative to a measure of flow of water.

Orifice Plate

A plate with circular holes installed in between flanges on the pipeline.

Pressure at plate and upstream captured and converted to flow.

Used if water demand varies considerably.

Venturi Meter

The principle is that when cross sectional area of the flow is reduced then a pressure difference is created between the different areas of flow which helps in measuring the difference in pressure. With the help of this pressure difference we can easily measure the discharge in flow.

Sonic Meter

Sensors are attached to each side of the pipe and sound pulses are sent alternating across the pipe diagnolly.
