Life cycle
Stages of growth and development that animals and plants go through in their life.
Reproduce
To make more of a population of organism.
Metamorphosis
A physical change at each step in the life cycle of an animal.
Complete Metamorphosis
A four-stage of metamorphosis for some insects: Egg, Larva, Pupa,
Incomplete Metamorphosis
A three-stage life cycle for some insects: Egg, Nymph, Adult.
Larva or larvae
Second stage with complete metamorphosis. This stage looks like a worm, it main job is to eat.
Pupa
This is the third stage with complete metamorphosis. This is a resting stage where new body formations or structures occur. Often referred to as a cocoon or chrysalis.
Nymph
The second stage of incomplete metamorphosis. This stage is a smaller version of the adult, similar body parts. The nymph does not have wings and it can not reproduce.
Seed
A small object produced by a plant, from which a new plant can grow.
Seedling
A young plant that is grown from a seed.
