Why was the Ziggurat important to the Sumerians and what could you compare it to today? More than one comparison please.

It was important because it was the religious center, the school, the store house, and the market all in one. It could be compared to a church, a school, Weis Markets, and a warehouse all in one.

What do you think would have happened to Sumer if it had suffered 10 years of drought? How would the kingdom be affected?

If this area had suffered a 10 year drought there is a good chance theriver would have shrunk and there would not have been enough water to watertheir crops or it may have been too far away to water their crops. It also would have made drinking waterdifficult as well as creating bricks to build. It may have ended the civilization.

In what ways do you think your school is similar to or different from the school in Sumer?
You have to learn skills so that you can grow up and get a job. In their case it was specifically writing,which you also need to learn so that you can get a job.
How would you compare the lives of women in the time of Sumer to the lives of women in the modern world?

In Sumer woman had many rights as today. They could own and sell property and run their own businesses. In the home women had far fewer rights thantoday. If her husband wanted to he coulddivorce her at any time and could even sell or rent her if he neededmoney. That does not happen in themodern USA.

To keep track of business deals. It started with pictures to represent objects, but eventually became picturesto represent syllables.
