COOLANT SYSTEM CAPACITY
Radiator = 51.8 gallons
Block of Engine = 31.25 gallons Lines = 8.25 gallons Total System Capacity: 91.3 gallons |
MAIN COOLANT Pump details
Location - front right of engine
Drive source - Idler gear from crankshaft Purpose - Draws coolant from radiator and pushes it to “V” of the engine. Type - Centrifugal, 411 GPM @ 1800 RPM |
Vee of Engine details
(Capacity - 31.25 gal)
Formed by 60 deg. V of engine. Purpose - Distributes coolant to all cylinder liners and after-cooler cores and contains oil coolers. Lube Oil Coolers. Finned elements submerged in coolant. Coolant removes heat from oil. |
First path Coolant takes and details
-Aftercooler (External lines)
-Location - top of engine -Purpose - cool compressed intake air which allows more air into cylinders for better efficiency (volumetric efficiency). -Heat exchanger is two cores. Manifold from engine (Y) splits to feed each core. -Shell & tube type heat exchanger with coolant in tubes. |
