What are some possible reasons why mistreated children do not reveal they are being mistreated?

- have lived with being abused their whole lives may think it is normal or that they deserve the abuse b/c they did something wrong.
- Too young to report; - too young to understand what has happened to them. - feel loyal - ashamed or embarrassed - blame themselves - threatned or bribed - worry about getting the family member in trouble |

- This kind of abuse is also hard to detect, diagnose and treat. Parents invent or directly induce their children's illnesses or symptoms and then seek medical assistance.
