Alzheimer's disease

Is a progressive brain disorder that has a gradual onset - increasing decline in functioning

What are early signs of Pick's disease

Personality changes, loss of social skills and inhibitions, emotional blunting, and language abnormalities.


Onset is commonly 50-60 yr of age; death occurs in 2-5 yrs

Parkinson's disease

Slowly progressive neurologic condition - loss of neurons of the basal ganglia.

Characteristics of Parkinson's disease

Tremor, rigidity, bradykinesia, postural instability, slow cognitive and motor function, impaired memory, impaired executive functioning
