Causes a reduction in heart rate, systolic blood pressure, and cardiac output
Indications
AMI
Contraindications
HR < 45 bpm, BP < 100 mm Hg, CHF, heart block, shock
Precautions
Be alert for signs and symptoms of CHF, bradycardia, shock, heart block, or bronchospasm (patients with history of asthma or COPD)
Side Effects
Bradycardia, hypotension, dyspnea, and wheezing
Interactions
IV calcium channel blockers, antihypertensive agents, MAOIs
Dosage
5 mg, q 5min x3 total doses
