-Func. Class: Cholinergic blocker, antispasmodic.
-Uses: Decreases secreations before surgery, reversal of neuromoscular blockade, peptic ulcer disease, irritable bowel syndrome, bradycardia, drooling. -Side effects: CNS: confusion, anxiety, restlessness; CV: palpetions, tachycardia, poestural hypotension; GI: Dryness of mouth, constipation. GU: urinary hesitancy, retention, impotence. Integ: Urticaria, alergic reaction. Misc: ˅ Sweating. -Nursing Considerations: Parental dose with pt in recumbent to prevent postural hypotension. Dose slowly, keep in bed for 1 hr after dose; monitor VS; With or after meal to prevent GI upset, may give with fluid other than water. |
