Action: locally acting anti-inflammatory action in the colon, where activity is probably a result of inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis

Common SE: HA, anorexia, diarrhea, N/V, rashes, fever

RN Considerations: assess for allergy to sulfonamides and salicylates, I+O’s ↑ intake to prevent cystalluria and stone formation, Inflammatory bowel dz; assess abd pain and frequency, quantity, and consistency of stools at the beginning and during therapy
