Greek verbs are conjugated: define
|
there are different endings for person and number, and sometimes for tense, mood, and voice. A Greek verb normally has six different forms, called principal parts, on which the various tenses are built. Many verbs lack one or more of the principal parts, and verbs are often irregular. Thus, knowing the dictionary form of a verb does not always allow one to predict the other forms. (read intro to Lesson 4)
EXAMPLE: principal parts of the verb gignesthai (come into being) are - gignomai, genesomai, egenomen, gegenemai, gegona, egenthen |
