Pulse
|
When the left ventricle of the heart contracts, blood is forcefully squeezed out of the chamber and into the systemic circulation, causing a pressure wave to occur in the arteries. This pressure wave causes the arterial walls to briefly expand and the recoil, forcing blood through the arteries.
