Who was the Maya equivalant to Tutankhamen?
Pacal the Great. He was twelve when ascended the throne. Ruler from Palenque in Chiapas, Mexico A.D. 615.

Father not king, but mother from Royal line and ruler of Palenque for three years.

3. Ev. of canals and swamp reclamation projects.

4. Terracing of hill slopes, planting kitchen gardens and tree cropping.

A.D. 800 Southern Maya stopped building pyramids, temples and pop. decreased dramatically.

Chicken Itza and Uxmal in North struggle for dominance and both collapsed.

A.D. 1250-1450 due to warfare and politics Maya started to collapse.

By the time the Spanish arrived the Maya were much changed; society decentralised and pop. was scattered.
