The roots are thin and often fused (Ash/Wheeler; Fuller/Denehy/Schulein; Jordan/Abrams/Kraus; Renner; Woelfel/Scheid). The common root fusion produces a long root trunk and the furcation is located only a short distance from the root apices (Woelfel/Scheid). When there is a single fused root, the 3 roots are outlined by grooves (Black).
