What is a mixture? |
When you put two or more materials together. |

What is a pure substance? |
It is a pure material that is not a mixture. |

What is a solution? |
A solution is a special mixture in which substances are spread out evenly and will not settle. |

What is a solute? |
The substance that dissolves. For example, if you put salt into water, it dissolves. The salt is the solute. |

When is something saturated? |
When a solution contains all of the solute that can be dissolved without changing the temperature. |

What is concentrated? |
When a solution has so much solute that it is relatively close to being saturated. |

What is a dilute? |
A solution that is far from being saturated. |

The liquid, that the solute will go into. |

What is an insulator? |
It is a poor conductor. It is material through which heat or electric charge does not flow. |

What is electricity? |
The movement of electrons. |

What causes an atom to have a negative or positive charge? |
When an atom gains electrons, it becomes negatively charged; when an atom loses electrons, it becomes positively charged. |

How are conductors and insulators different? |
They are opposites: conductors allow electricity to flow easily and insulators stop its flow. |

What is an electrical current? |
An electrical current is the flow of electric charges through a material. |

Possible conductors: copper, silver, gold, and aluminum. Possible insulators: plastic, rubber, glass, and dry cotton. |
