sum

An amount obtained as a result of adding numbers.

difference

a point or way in which people or things are not the same.

product

the result obtained by multiplying two or more quantities together

quotient

the result of division; the number of times one quantity is contained in another.

equation

in mathematics, an equation is an equality containing one or more variables. Solving theequation consists of determining which values of the variables make the equality true. In this situation, variables are also known as unknowns and the values which satisfy the equality are known as solutions.

inequality

in mathematics, an inequality is a relation that holds between two values when they are different (see also: equality). The notation a ≠ b means that a is not equal to b.

balance

an even distribution of weight enabling someone or something to remain upright and steady.

inverse

1. (of a proportion) containing terms of which an increase in one results in a decrease in another. A term is said to be in inverse proportion to another term if it increases (or decreases) as the other decreases (or increases).

operation

1. a mathematical process, as addition, multiplication, or differentiation.

variable

1. a quantity or function that may assume any given value or set of values.

coefficient

A number or symbol multiplied with a variable or an unknown quantity in an algebraic term. For example, 4 is the coefficient in the term 4x, and x is the coefficient in x(a + b). A numerical measure of a physical or chemical property that is constant for a system under specified conditions.

term

a word or phrase used to describe a thing or to express a concept, especially in a particular kind of language or branch of study.

equation

In mathematics, an equation is an equality containing one or more variables. Solving theequation consists of determining which values of the variables make the equality true. In this situation, variables are also known as unknowns and the values which satisfy the equality are known as solutions.

expression

In mathematics, an expression (or mathematicalexpression) is a finite combination of symbols that is well-formed according to rules that depend on the context. Mathematical symbols can designate numbers (constants), variables, operations, functions, punctuation, grouping, and other aspects of logical syntax.

slope

In mathematics, the slope or gradient of a line is a number that describes both the direction and the steepness of the line. Slope is often denoted by the letter m. The direction of a line is either increasing, decreasing, horizontal or vertical. A line is increasing if it goes up from left to right.

proportion

a part, share, or number considered in comparative relation to a whole.

quadrants

each of four parts of a plane, sphere, space, or body divided by two lines or planes at right angles.

rational numbers

A Rational Number is a real number that can be written as a simple fraction (i.e. as a ratio). Oops! The square root of 2 cannot be written as a simple fraction! And there are many more such numbers, and because they are not rational they are called Irrational.

irrational numbers

n mathematics, an irrational number is any real numberthat cannot be expressed as a ratio of integers. Irrational numbers cannot be represented as terminating or repeating decimals.
