Ovarian Follicle |
A roughly spheroid cellular aggregation (fluid filled sac that contain an immature egg, oocyte ) set found in ovaries. It secretes hormones that influences stages of the menstrual cycle.
During ovulation, a mature egg is released from a follicle. Follicles that do not release a mature egg disintegrate, and this can happen at any stage of follicular development. Atresia. |

Tertiary follicles, also Antral follicles - are follicles that contain a fluid filled cavity known as the Antrum, follicles at this stage are visible via transvaginal ultrasound.
