Muscle- Extensor Carpi Radialis Brevis

Function- extends the hand at the wrist, radially deviates the hand at the wrist,


Origin- lateral epicondyle via the CET (common extensor tendon), radial collateral ligament, antebrachial fascia


Insertion- base of 3rd metacarpal(triquetrum)


Antagonist- Flexor Carpi Ulnaris, Extensor Carpi Ulnaris, Flexor Carpi Radialis


Blood Supply- radial recurrent artery


Nerve- deep branch of the radial nerve, C6,7


Muscle- Extensor Carpi Radialis Longus

Function- extends the hand, radially deviates the hand at the wrist, weakly flexes the forearm at the elbow, weakly supinates the forearm


Origin- lateral supracondylar ridge, lateral intermuscular septum of humerus


Insertion- base of 2nd metacarpal(lunate)


Antagonist- Flexor Carpi Radialis, Pronator Teres, Flexor Carpi Ulnaris, Palmaris Longus, Flexor Digitorum Superficialis, Flexor Digitorum Profundus, Pronator Quadratus, Flexor Pollicis Longus


Blood- radial recurrent artery


Nerve- radial nerve, C5,6 ORdeep branch of the radial nerve


Muscle- Extensor Carpi Ulnaris

Function- extends wrist, ulnarly deviates wrist


Origin- lateral epicondyle, posterior body of ulna, antebrachial fascia


Insertion- 5th metacarpal (trapezium)


Antagonist- Extensor Carpi Radialis Longus, Extensor Carpi Radialis Brevis, Flexor Carpi Radialis, Flexor Carpi Ulnaris, Palmaris Longus


Blood- posterior interosseous artery


Nerve- posterior interosseous nerve of the radial nerve C 6,7,8


Muscle- Scalene group

Function- elevates the ribs for respiration, rotates to side opposite of contraction, laterally flexes to the contracted side, bilaterally flexes the neck


Origin- all cervical vertebrae (spine)


Insertion- 1st rib


Antagonist- Serratus Posterior Inferior, Transversus Abdominis


Blood- ascending cervical artery


Nerve- ventral rami C3-C8


Muscle- Fibularis Brevis

Function- flexes toes 2-5


Origin- medial process of calcaneal tuberosity, plantar aponeurosis


Insertion- both sides of the bases of the middle phalanx of rays 2-5


Blood- medial plantar artery


Nerve- medial plantar nerve, L5,S1


Antagonist- Extensor hallucis longus, Extensor digitorum longus, Tibialis anterior, Peroneus tertius


Muscle- Tibialis Posterior

Function- stabilizes ankle, inversion & adduction of foot, prevents hyperpronation while in gait, weak plantarflexion of ankle


Origin- posterior proximal tibia, interosseous membrane, medial surface of fibula


Insertion- navicular tuberosity, cuneiforms (plantar surface), bases of 2nd-4th metatarsals (calcaneus, navicular), cuboid, calcaneus


Antagonist- Extensor hallucis longus, Extensor digitorum longus, Tibialis anterior, Peroneus tertius


Blood- peroneal artery, posterior tibial artery


Nerve- tibial nerve, L5,S1
