How is Ralph initially portrayed |
"Fair hair"- important rich, classy could afford a haircut. "fair boy" shows his stature is imidiatly better than Piggy |

"fat" less important than Ralph immediately "shorter" shows he has less authority "fat boy" fat means less clever and more of a burden. "ass-mar" not very well educated? "specs" wisdom |

Respect asks for his name Always pointing stuff out to him trusts him and others to easily. |

Both boys are excited by it and Ralph saw the conch as more important than Piggy. As the novel goes on it grows in importance. |

As an adventure they are "exploerers" shows there young age and innnocence in the novel and how weak they are mentally. |

Scares the younger children the older children try to reassure them. Ralph and Jack try to shake of the theory. |

he is more mature than the others he sees them as pigs also he is made fun of by the other boys and is far to caring of others where manliness i key especially between Ralph and Jack. |
