For ralph its not s moment of unequivocal joy but although I'd saved from death he will never be the same. Golding connects Ralph's despair to the two main themes of the book. Innocence and darkness. It pains him to see how much the island experience had changed them, shows he actually cares about the Others and what their lives will look like after this. |
