What are the primary responsibilities of the lookout?
Maintain a sharp, 360º lookout. Report all lights, sounds, unusual objects, and conditions to the OOD. Report status of running lights when energized and de-energized.
How long does dark adaptation take?
Thirty minutes.

Binoculars.

Two 180º turns with short legs. Affords more time to line-up on the man overboard. Ship returns on its original heading.
