Iamb
Iambic: unstressed - stressed
Monologue
A long speech in a play or a story, delivered by a single person. A monologue is delivered in the presence of one or more characters; a soliloquy is delivered while the speaker is alone.
Motif
Motifs are recurring structures, contrasts, o r literary devices that can help to develop and inform the text's major themes.
Motivation
The reasons, either stated or implied, for a character's behavior.
Narration
The kind of writing or speaking that relates a series of events.
Narrator
One who narrates, or tells a story.
First-person Narrator
Someone who is either a major or minor character in the story.
Third-person Narrator
Someone who is not in the story at all. In this case, narrators are often omniscient.
Nonfiction
Prose that deals with real events and people, not with imagined events and people (Biography, autobiography, essays, etc.)
Novel
A long fictional narrative written in prose, usually having many characters and a strong plot
