Dock

Use the Dock to open common apps + switch between running apps.

Finder and Spotlight programs

The best way to open apps or files is to use Finder, a program similar to Explorer.


If you still can't find what you're looking for or are not to sure if it's on your computer, use the Spotlight search tool - it searches through files, emails, apps, songs, printers, + so on.

Multiple Desktops

Mission Control modifies how the desktop is displayed or you can set up multiple desktops.


Screen Sharing allows other Macs to view your screen + take control of your computer: Apple menu>System Preferences, click Sharing, then select Screen Sharing.


Many Mac computers come with a secondary DisplayPort (DP) port to enable duplication of the screen.

Time Machine, Disk Utility, and Force Quit tools.

Time Machine - for backing up the state of the computer: Apple menu, select System Preferences, then select Time Machine icon and turn it on.


Disk Utility - used for verifying + repairing the HD, repairing drive permissions, + booting from the recovery partition.


Force Quit used if an app freezes or is otherwise not responding properly.
