Comparing light and sound

Light and sound can both be reflected, refracted and diffracted. Light and sound are both a type of wave.

Light.

Light can travel through a vacuum.


Sound

Sound can't travel through a vacuum, it can only pass through a solid and liquid or gas.

Transparent

Materials such as glass, clear plastic and water, are transparent.


It allows light to pass through without any problems.

Translucent.

Allowing light to pass but diffusing it so that people and objects on the opposite side are not clearly visible.


It will only let a little bit of light in.


Opaque.

Cannot see through it at all.


It doesn't let any light in what so ever.


Its not translucent.
