what is light?

light is produced by luminous objects, such as fires, electric lamps and stars like the sun.

what do convex mirrors look like?

convex mirrors curve outwards, they reflect light outwards.

out

what is the light called that we can see?

visible light!

what light can we not see?

ultraviolet light and infrared.

what is opaque?

when light canot trael through object such as brick walls

walls

what is transparent?

objects that light can travel trough such as windows and glass

What is are Translucent objects?

Things such as paper that we can sort of see through but not very clearly.

what is the normal?

a line at 90 degress to the surface of a mirror.

what is the incident ray?

a ray of light going to the mirror.

what is a refelcted ray?

a ray that comes off the mirror.

what is the angle of incidence?

the angle of incidence is between the incident ray and the normal.

angle of reflection?

is the angle between the reflectwed ray and the normal.

what is the focus?

the part where that reflected ray meets.

what is convex?

convex mirrors curve outwards, they reflect light outwards.

eg. used in service station mirrors to see the whole store.

refraction is?

when waves speed up slow down by the water and are bent.
eg. causing the pent to look odd, the two mediums in this example are air and water.

what do concave lenses do?

they spread out parrallel, always produce a vitual image

thinner in the middle.

what is the focal length?

the distance between the lens to the pricipal focus.

what is the total internal reflection?

when light passes from a dense material to a les dense material (eg water to air)

what is covalent bonding?

involves non- metal atoms bonding with other non-metal atoms.

what is a molecule?

a group of 2 or more non-metallic atom bond together.

what makes white?

all colours. all 7 colours.

ROYGBIV

what is another name for diverging lenses?

concave lenses

what sort of lenses produce smaler upright images?

concave

C

what image is formed when we look through a magnifying glass?

a virtual image?

V****** I

why is a diverging lense called a convex lense?

because is spreads out parallel rays f light

spreads

why is concave light called converging lens?

because it brings parallel rays of light.

brings
