-100 to -350,
calibrated for 212°F in RPV and Drywell.
Non-Calibrated Jet Pump Flow
Range
All Jet Pumps have a pressure tap on the throat which is compared to the Below Plate Core Pressure to provide a DP, the square root of this DP gives a signal that represents flow.
Calibrated Jet Pump Flow
Range & Failure Modes
#5, #10, #16(Unit 1)/#15(Unit 2), #20

Flow is measured from pressure taps at the Jet Pump throat and diffuser sections

Calibrated pump flow is displayed in MCR and used to calibrate other Jet Pumps
Jet Pump Loop Flow
Range
All 10 Jet pump flows are are summed together to provide a Recirc Loop flow signal.

Leak in reference leg
Weight of fluid in reference leg drops due to reduction in water density.
Transmitters "sees" lower DP (variable leg versus reference leg).
Indicated RPV level goes up.
Leak in variable leg
Excess flow check valve closes
Variable leg drains
Indicated level lowers
Equalizing valve open
Equalizes pressure across transmitter
Reference leg level will drain down to variable leg level
Indicated level rises
Hole in detector diaphragm
Diaphragm no longer senses DP
Indicated level rises
Operation at low Reactor Vessel temperatures on instruments calibrated hot
Narrow, Wide, and Upset Ranges are calibrated for Hot conditions.
At lower temperatures, water is more dense.
A set column of cold water will yield a higher DP as the same column of hot water.
If indicated RPV level remains constant as temperature drops:
Actual RPV level must have lowered
In Cold Shutdown, an actual RPV level of +45 inches will read +60 inches on Narrow Range instruments.
Operation at high Reactor Vessel temperatures on instruments calibrated cold
Shutdown Range is calibrated for cold conditions.
Effects are opposite those for Narrow Range.
Shutdown Range will indicate a lower than actual RPV level during hot conditions.
Elevated Drywell temperatures
Effects are similar to reference leg flash.
