Repetition (PAGE 72)
Repetition of “I am,” and “ How did you know?,” Nora is trying to be strong and holding her own opinion showing more independence in her character.
Terms of address (Nora)
“My husband,” more endearing term, trying to make Krogstad more sympathetic towards her. (Krogstad) “Mrs Helmer,” formality, more impersonal and professional .

Repetition

“Your husband,”, repeated, putting the blame on Nora (“your,”) emphasis that it is Nora’s fault, making her feel guilty.

Third person (PAGE 73)

Krogstad- refers to himself in third person, “Nils Krogstad,” he is trying to make himself seem like a powerful godlike figure.
Juxtaposition
Juxtaposition between “pretty,” and “ugly,”. Krogstad is threatening Nora with her looks – one of the things that makes Nora powerful and manipulating.

Repetition

“frighten,” suggests how Nora has an underlying anxiety.

Repetition (PAGE 74)

“There it is! Oh Torvald, Torvald now we’re lost!” Repetition of Torvald suggests Nora’s state of mind, that she is panicking about the letter.

Mrs Linde: Repetition

Mrs Linde: “Nora! Nora!” Repetition shows Mrs Linde trying to gain Nora’s attention but she is so immerged in the lies that are gradually being discovered.

Positive (PAGE 75)

describes her secret being revealed as a ‘miracle’. Surprising as it is such a positive word to explain the breakdown of her current life.

Independence

She is gaining independence – something she thought would never happen. “I’m going to look so pretty for you Torvald” – the word ‘pretty’ is used as Nora uses her looks in order to make Helmer happy. She cannot make him happy by her loyalty as she has been dishonest to him.
