approx 25% of values in data set below it and 75% above. It acts like the M for observations below median
Quartile # 3
approx 75% of values below and 25% values above.Median of observations above the median
IMP NOTE
The differences between two quartiles cover each 1/4 of entire area no matter how big the spread or how skewed it is or how big outliers are.
Whisker
Line on either side of the box in a box plot.
They can be long due to outliers or skewed distributions. Usu. asteriks are used to distinguish b/w skewed or outlier as the reason.
