in rem jurisdiction
the power the court has over a thing so that the court can enter a judgment that determines every person’s right with regard to this thing.
Quasi in rem jurisdiction
The court’s jurisdiction over a piece of property, real or personal, that is not the subject matter of the lawsuit.
Interrogatories
Written questions to be answered in writing under oath by the opposite party.
Deposition
A question and answer session conducted under oath of the other party or witnesses for the other party
Subpoena
Orders someone to appear at court or for deposition.

Cross-claim
A claim that another defendant is liable for some or all of the harm caused
Counterclaim
